A Private Lodge Near Big Bear Lake for a 30 to 40 Person Corporate Offsite
What a leadership team should expect from a private mountain lodge for a two or three day offsite, and how Sunstone runs one.
The short answer. For a thirty to forty person offsite near Big Bear Lake, Sunstone offers a private 40-acre property with a Lodge, four cabins, and shared accommodation sleeping 40, indoor meeting space, outdoor dining on the lawn, full catering on site, a gym, and the Pacific Crest Trail for a walking session between blocks of work. The property is about two hours from Orange County and Irvine and two hours and fifteen minutes from Los Angeles, and it is booked as a full-property buyout so the team is the only group on the mountain.

Why hold an offsite at a private lodge instead of a hotel?
Teams that scatter to hotel rooms at the end of a session stop being a team at six in the evening. Teams that stay together on one property keep the conversation going through dinner and into the evening, which is where most of the value of an offsite appears. A private lodge also removes other guests, lobby noise, and a competing event down the hall.
How many people fit at Sunstone for an offsite?
Up to 40 sleep on the property, and most corporate groups run twenty to forty. Day-use capacity is larger for a session that includes people driving up for the day.
What meeting and breakout space is there?
Indoor gathering space in the Lodge for the full group, a great room, cabin living rooms for small breakouts, a large outdoor deck, and the lawn for meals and open-air sessions. Forty acres of pine and meadow sit between the buildings for walking meetings.
Is there connectivity?
Yes, though part of the value of the place is that phones lose their pull at altitude with no traffic noise. Groups regularly report the lack of distraction as the most useful part of the trip.
How is food handled?
Meals are cooked on the property and served indoors or out on the lawn, breakfast through dinner, with dietary needs settled during planning. Nobody leaves the site to eat.
How far is it from the office?
About two hours from Orange County and Irvine, two hours and fifteen minutes from Los Angeles and Long Beach, two hours and forty-five minutes from San Diego, and one hour from San Bernardino. Most teams leave after breakfast and are in the first session before lunch.
What does the booking include and how is it priced?
The property booking includes the full-property buyout, lodging, meeting and dining spaces, the gym, trail access, and a coordinator who plans with you ahead of time and hosts on site. Catering and any production are coordinated through the same contact. Pricing is quoted per date and per scope, with group size, season, nights, and scope as the inputs.
